The Tera VR Box headset is a virtual reality headset first prize, designed to erase the few defects of cardboard Google Cardboard (our opinion of Cardboard) for the shot cheap. So we can talk about a plastic version that should bring us more comfort and accommodate more smartphones. What about reality? You are told everything in this opinion. Indeed, the Tera VR Box headset fits most smartphones.

The implementation is well thought out, drag a drawer to place a smartphone or even a few phablets, with a diagonal between 4.7 and 6 inches. My Samsung S6 has always stayed very well in place, although it can move very slightly when bending down, in principle, you will never need to look at your feet, so it’s not a problem. The smartphone is held in place with a piece of non-slip foam, which takes a handful of seconds to a position, and does its job perfectly. The implementation is well thought for a product of this price; we feel that there has been a minimum of research to make our life more comfortable, and it is always a good thing. I was surprised by the quality of artistry. Even if the plastic is a bit cheap, at that price, we still pay a perfect helmet. The 3-point strap looks solid, and the helmet should withstand some shocks, although it is not recommended to run when you use it (do not go crazy).

Also the product is rather well finished with its white lacquered appearance, and its foam covered with fabric that also seems somewhat resistant. Only the top of the nose is not protected, and although I have not had the slightest concern at this level, users with a slightly hunchbacked nose or a little big may feel mild discomfort. You can use the helmet with glasses, but this is not ideal, we have already seen helmets better suited to this case. Once on the head, the helmet stays in place, and you will not need to hold it with one hand, like a Cardboard. Even if we are far from the level of comfort of the Samsung Gear VR, it is rather good for a product 4 or 5 times cheaper. We would have liked it a little more if it had been lighter. With its 550 grams, it ends up weighing a little on the head. We can completely disassemble the helmet to access the lenses, and the icing on the cake, we find in the box, all the necessary accessories to clean the Tera VR Box properly.

Perfect adjustable lenses

After placing the helmet on the head, it will be necessary to adjust the glasses according to your vision. To do this, we find two slide buttons that allow us to improve both pupil spacing and depth. It’s effortless to do, and it only takes one to two minutes at most. The lenses offer an angle between 92 and 98 ° depending on your settings, which is entirely correct and allow an excellent 3D immersion. With a proper adjustment, you will avoid eye strain too fast, and you can focus much more on the actress who makes smiles in front of you.

 Sensations quite correct

Of course, you will need a smartphone with a good quality of the screen, my Galaxy S6 is entirely the case, and especially of a model having a good gyroscope and a good accelerometer to avoid the saccades brought by the latencies which can quickly turn their heads and become unpleasant. Indeed, unlike a Samsung Gear VR headset, the Tera VR Box is not equipped with sensors, so it’s the smartphone that allows you to immerse yourself in a maximum of 360 ° videos. Anyway, with a good smartphone, the quality is correct. We think we are easily in the room with our favorite porn and that’s the main thing. 3D is not flattering, but it’s frankly pretty good. We still get better quality with the Homido VR for example.

Application and accessories

In the box, so we find something to clean our lenses, it’s already not bad, it is not always the case, especially at that price. There is no button on the headphones, but it is a defect that is recurrent on many models. It will then be necessary to bring a Bluetooth remote control, whether for applications or videos, to facilitate use. We do not find a dedicated form, and it will then turn to Google apps or is according to your smartphone.

As I say several times in this review, this helmet is sold at a price almost unbeatable. For about 20 €, (see the best price) so you can test the virtual reality without too much risk, and if you find that great (and you will find it great), you can still invest in a more powerful model. For games, we see better, and there is not yet an extensive choice, but for porn, there are no better experiences than VR (virtual reality). If you’re not sure, then the Tera VR Box is a great option to get started at a lower cost.
